Tax rebate for holiday home owners
• Are you a UK resident for tax purposes?  Do you own a property available for holiday let in Europe?  Do you make that property available for let?  Did you purchase the property for more than £150,000? If you can answer yes to all of these questions, you may be eligible for a Capital Allowance Tax refund of around £10-15,000.    We have teamed up with International Property Success who have arranged a no upfront fees scheme with a tax expert.  The scheme is fully HMRC approved. The amount you can claim will vary according to the rate of tax you pay and the specifics of the property. Claims are administered swiftly.  You will receive a report on your rebate, showing how much you can reclaim, in most instances within 8 weeks.  International Property Success are advisers that specialise in the capital allowance field.  They do not charge upfront fees - you only pay once your case has been approved by your accountant.    Experience shows that unless an investor has access to the appropriate level of expertise it is rare for all available tax allowances to be identified which means that the majority of Investors are not claiming all the tax allowances they are entitled to.  If you would like to find out if you are eligible for this tax break, please contact us immediately.  Tax rules change frequently and can be withdrawn at any time.  This rule will be reviewed in April.

Location

Languedoc is more an idea than a geographical entity. The modern region covers only a fraction of the lands where once Occitan or the Langue d’Oc were spoken, which stretched south from Bordeaux and Lyon into Spain and Italy. Although things are changing, the sense of being Occitan remains strong, a regional identity that stretches back to the Middle Ages, when its castles and fortified villages were the final refuges of the Cathars, a heretical religious set.

Famous amongst these is Minerve, an extraordinary village perched on limestone cliffs overlooking the meeting of two rivers, marking the massacre inflicted by Simon de Montfort against the Cathars in 1210. Little is left of the village’s fortress, except for the "candella" - a slender octagonal tower. Today, the village is a bustling network of narrow alleys and is a must-visit attraction of the Languedoc. In complete contrast, the Canal du Midi is a love affair between man, nature and engineering. Construction began in 1666 and it runs 235 kms from the elegant city of Toulouse to the busy port of Sète, cutting gracefully through the Midi countryside through over one hundred locks, via tunnels and aqueducts. The canal is an ideal location to spend time painting, boating, cycling or just strolling along.

To the west, dominating an escarpment and with views to the mountains and sea, Carcassonne towers above the sprawling modern mass. The entrance through the mighty stone walls is by a drawbridge hung with heavy chains, then along a narrow uphill path and through a second defensive wall. Without shops and cafés to keep one in the sometimes mundane present, it would be easy to fall under the spell of Carcassonne and to imagine oneself back in the days of chivalry.

Practical info
It is however a Roman influence that is felt very strongly in Narbonne with its rich 2,000 year old heritage. The Horreum - a dark subterranean storehouse – is well worth a visit before taking a drink at a café overlooking the Via Domita, the great international Roman road connecting Spain with the Alps, uncovered in the main square adjacent to the St. Just Cathedral. Or just be seduced by the open markets on the boulevards alongside the canal running through the town. Even older than Narbonne is the protohistoric period of the "Élysique" people who lived around Mailhac in 800BC. They were agricultural people with strong trading links. Recent archaeological excavation on their tombs has revealed artefacts from across the whole Mediterranean.

Narbonne is a major Mediterranean town, so you will find a wealth of amenities here from schooling to veterinary practices and from fishing shops to martial arts. Narbonne offers a TGV high speed rail service, enabling you to be in Paris or Barcelona in around four hours.
